Underhood pics
Nothing special by anymeans I bought an Airraid quickfit airbox, frolled and welded a replacement torque tube and color matched them http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/e99cd537.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/b558ccdc.jpg Sounds great [yt]COvqy9u5-4o&feature[/yt] But didnt really stand out so I went a different route and painted the valve cover while I was at it http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...FD4402F92F.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...FD4960CF7A.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...EC8885ED06.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...B0BB09E13A.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...B0C2942533.jpg Still need to buff and wax it and get good installed pictures |
Nice paint work man
|
Lookin good man! I like the paint.
|
What'd you use as a template for the flames? Any procedure on which colors first? light to dark or what??
|
I actually cut the stencils out cereal box
The cardboard thick enough that it isn't flimsy but still leaves a pretty clean line I had a few since they get loaded up with paint http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...B12A24510C.jpg And here's video [yt]-IcVQaVqFSk[/yt] http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...2B73CE271B.jpg I started with a mineral grey base, then went to ppg pure pink pearl http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...B1ED88C600.jpg Then did some in dodge ps2 silver, pxr black and pretty much finished with mineral grey again I touched up with all four colors so it doesn't really matter what colors you use Just depends on how light or dark you want it Finished with a spray maxx 2k clear which blows away any other clear in a can Gotta thank schroedermp and usmc1188 for making me want to paint that stuff and there how to's to do it |
Awesome man...I may get after my valve cover one of these afternoons
|
Give it a shot!
It's only paint if your not happy with it, its an easy fix lol |
I picked up a bullydog gt tuner used
I can't get it to work on her truck but worked fine on my buddies 06 5.9 so I have to give bullydog a call and see what they say I'm figuring the truck needs an update reflash (obd port might be bad too) either way it goings to cost more money http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...892BE488-1.jpg Painted some headlights for her too http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...99C0CCE705.jpg |
Awesome man! I like the paint, I might try something like that on my little powerstroke fuel filter cover.
|
Not sure of I like it
http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...EBBCEFC97E.jpg Wheels are going on in two weeks an I might try to reprint a grille shell I have in my garage Hopefully start my taillight project soon too |
Damn man looking awesome hopefully you get the bullydog figured out
|
Still havent had the truck reflashed to get the tuner to work
Need to get longer control arms for the front now too http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...196DDDDF76.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...197387BDEC.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...1E208A0CE6.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...19793FBFB7.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...19544BE064.jpg Going to be ordering top gun CAs for 2"-3" of lift to stop the rubbing on the bottom of the flare (hopefully) |
Well hopefully you get it worked out

Also....got my valve cover off, since I had to pull my injectors :fca5278d:......but I digress...I tried my luck at drawing some flames on a box..HA! Looks like some crap a 4yr old would do.....but I got the colors I want to use.....just got to figure out a good way to get flames transferred to the box

I figureing I'll just order extras since it'll probably have to be a one day project If you aren't in to big of a rush to paint it pm me your email address and I can draw something up for you to use as a stencil, I'm not site if I'll be able to get around to it till next week though |
No I didn't have any issues at all beside the upper bolt on the pass top control arm.....It hits the exhaust & you gotta cut it in half and replace it or pull the down pipe. Local hardware store should have it.
As far as the flames go I just printed out some stencils, I'm gonna transfer over to the cardboard to spray with....Starting to get kinda pumped to see how I can make them look. If I could ever get done with this kitchen renovation...:uhoh2: |

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out, hopefully better then the last person who tried it haha What colors are you going with? |
I got a white as a base and then a dark sillver metallic, a lighter silver, and Sublime Green....Thinking it should look pretty good together but we'll see lol.
As far as your control arms go....not sure if you have access to a lift but I didn't. I just parked my truck uphill a little, and put a ratchet strap from the brackets in front of the control arms up to the bumper, loosened my CA bolts, and put a little tension on the straps. Worked like a dream, then once you've got one end of the new arms bolted in ratchet the axle forward alittle more with the straps and the other ends will pop in :anitoof: |
Thanks for the tip!
I'm hoping to use my cousin or buddies lift, I did the spacers in my driveway and it wasn't much fun Did you do any kind of pitman arm drop? |
No, but I did upgrade my stabilizer (Caught an unbelievable deal on a carli stabilizer) and I put an adjustable carli track bar on to recenter the axle. Not sure what inch spacer y'all are running, but I threw some 3's under mine and it pulled the axle over and 2"....
|
I just have a 2" now
I dont really want to go much higher right now but we'll see how things work out |
Ordered a set of RC adjustable control arm for $180 shipped
Thinking of going to a 3" spacer in the front, maybe 3.5" and 1.5" in the back Hmmmm |
not sure how your truck is setup but will putting that big of a spacer going to strain on any thing else???
|
Looks like its probaby going to be a 3" spacer since there's one by chance on Craigslist within 5 miles of my actual house
I'll need a track bar drop bracket, sway bar drop brackets and probably a drop pitman arm and the blocks for the rear I just put shocks for 2"-4" of lift on this summer That's basically what the $800 procomp lift kit comes with and it'll work out for right around $400-$450 this way Most of it will be temporary since we'll both be out of school this time next year too |
sweet go pick it up man get it done
|
http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/p...BA569625AD.jpg
They got here pretty quick, UPS guy wasnt happy with how heavy the box was Gonna go ahead and order the lower cam bolts and upper passenger side bolt to save myself some hassle later maybe |
spec-d is the brand of lights i have on my truck
|
I have lights everywhere
There's just a set of stock tails in that box that I'm going to open up and put LEDs in and the TYC box was a set of 4th gen dodge tails that I got my dad for Christmas I bought a set of LED tails for her truck, I think they were spyder and had nothing but problems with them till one literally fell out as she was driving to my house, they're ripped apart in my room now with her stock headlights too lol I went ahead and ordered all new bolts for the control arms from spohn figureing I'll have to cut most of the old ones off |
hahaha jeez thats crazy
|
Round 1 went to the truck
Good news is the lower cam bolts seem to be the only ones seized Bad news I'm going to have to take off the down pipe off toget the passenger side upper bolt off It's just spinning and I can't get a socket on it Still haven't decided what to do suspension wise yet either |
And an exhaust clip
|
|
badass man
|
Adjusts from 38.25" to 40.25" with a collar that allows adjustment on the truck
