Edge insight cs 4 v10

i just recently purchased the CS and was wondering when watching the shift pattern why is there a lock next to the 4 when im on the hwy and when im on a long strecth on the road it has a 3 with a lock. what does this mean?? i have a 02 V10

The number is what gear your truck is in at the time. The lock will come on the screen when the torque converter locks up.
