I figured this would help us get a discussion going. We all Have HD's so what do you use it for?

I am in Construction and use mine as a Work/play truck. I tow enclosed trailers with our tools, and Dump trailers. And a Skidsteer in the Dumptrailer now and then. I got a Diesel because I thought the fuel milage to price was worth it because I drive 50 miles one way to and from work. I also like the resale value of a Diesel, and the longevity of the motor.

When I'm not working I pull around my Z400 ATV, or just race around in my Duramax... P.S. It really doesn't smoke at all with Rob's tunes. All power/no smoke (very little)

So tell your story... Comment on mine... Whatever!

dont need it but wanted it really. i was moving up to a crew cab from my xcab 1/2 ton and could get more room in a f250 than in an f150 for the same money. then diesel due to mileage on the trucks in my price range. that and id always liked diesel trucks.

i do use it and like knowing i can get through or tow most anything i need to which is very nice

Had a half ton f150 supercrew, drove my PSD for work, started to not drive the PSD for work as often, sold the 150 and I drive the PSD daily now.

I have mine mainly because i love F250's but it gets used to tow vehicles tractors 4 wheelers and so on. Plus they have plenty of room and look great fixed up, you just can beat bigger trucks!

^^^ especially when you have a sexy 5.0 parked next to it so you don't have to always drive a giant truck around town.

LoL yeah, the truck gets drove more though... im a truck person but i do love my stang! I just feel alot safer in my truck :) I pretty much just drive the car to work or the banks (the truck wont fit in the drive thru) once i get some smaller wheels/tires the 5.0 is going to the track this year!!!

Cool! Racecar! I wish I had something to sport around in when I dont feel like driving a tuna boat.

Its nice to have something small to drive from time to time but my car payment is more than my house payment... which is crazy!! The new 5.0 is SWEET but i HATE my payment!!!

That's my problem, I refuse to finance a vehicle for the time being. Things are too uncertain in my field of work. If I was booked out 6 months like I used to be I would finance a toy. Mortgage and bills first toys later

Wanted a 4x4 truck to lift and DD as well as take offroad and get in and out of hunting and fishing spots. I wanted a later model truck but I have a thing for solid axles. that narrowed it down to 2001 or earlier 1500 dodges, HD dodges or superduties. I definately wanted a diesel, but im a budget baller and i couldnt find a diesel in my price range.

I went to look at a 05 ram 2500 hemi, but he sold it before i got to it, then i found my truck. Got it for under 15K out the door and just at 70K miles,

I mostly use it as a DD and to get me, my buddies, and our fishing gear to our catching spots. Soon it will have a 25ft or bigger pontoon to pull around as well.

as soon as i can convince Florida to rain for me, im going to a secret spot on the airforce base to bury it in some mud... :headbang:

I work rigs and I got my 3/4 ton cuz I got sick of wearing out a 1/2 ton in less than a year. 2 years on my 2500hd and havent even done any major work to it, 165,000 kms of trouble free drving...only got 100,000 kms out of my 1/2 tons before they were too shitterd to drive lol (although the last one would have lasted longer if I hadn't rolled it 4 times doing 160 km/h)

I have mine cause I love diesel trucks. But I do have a 32 ft travel trailer I use it for. Once the diesel bug hits (DES; Diesel Engine Syndrome) as we call it on my other website it's tough to get rid of it. :jester:

First bought a 6.0 f250 to pull a 2001 supercrew show truck I used to have.. Fell in love with the power this diesel engines put out.. I always wanted a kingranch, so when the 2008 f250 came out, I wanted it.. So I traded the 6.0 for 6.4.. The 6.4 is awesome.. The power it makes with just a tune, exhaust, and intake is incredible.. Going to have this truck for a long time..

^How's the tranny hold up in those? I do love the look of the fords, especialy the interiors. I mostly ended up with the duramax cuz i needed something asap and it was a good price... actualy bought it from the ford dealer that I got all my previous fords from lol

I've always said a perfect truck (in my opinion) would be a F250 with a cummins

Yea I heard it goes into limp mode.. The biggest tune I've ran in my truck is spartan 310.. I've got really into this diesel performance bug.. Can't get enough. Lol.. But I'll be happy with a 650hp truck. Or mayb 700. Lol

Ya well once you get to 700 you might as well go for 800, it's just so close

Ya, I dont keep trucks for long so I dont bother doing anything more than exhasut and wheels. Stock power is more than enough for my application, Im more concerned with durability.

Don't think I'll ever get a new truck.. Maybe just me, but diesels have gotten a bit more expensive. If I do, I'll find a used 6.4 or mayb get an f150 ecoboost.

i wud like to have a screw 4x4 with a ecoboost

I bought mine because I wanted something really fast that was not a car. Really could get by with a damn tacoma if I wanted pulling my ski boat and hunting and what not. But I love the Dmax. Been nothing but good to me even though I abuse the hell out of it.

Started with 3/4 Tons mostly due to towing. I had f150's that always got the job done, but it was definitly hard on them. Although I never had any major problems I just felt better in a 3/4 Ton.

First 3/4 ton was a 96 F250 460 4x4. Then a few years later came across a great deal on a 96 F250 7.3 PSD and that was the start of my diesel love!:hands:

I do construction so I pretty much everyday have my job trailer on, its a 7x16 Keiffer Built Cargo King, 12,500 axles and typically weighs about 8500-10,000 so thats my everyday trailer.
I also have a 35' Dual Tandem GN flatbed that has 24K axles I use to move telescopic forklifts when I rent them.

Biggest tow is my buddies 644 skytrak telehandler....21,000lb machine weight plus my GN trailers weight and the work platform....guessing somewhere close to 26,500 - 28,000lbs. So I am probably at a GCW in the mid 30's. Good thing I only tow it every now and then!!

So yeah, I have used it for many things! - Moving garages, hauling equipment for other contractors, hauling my own equipment, as well as dump trailers, race cars and the like.

Pretty much anything. I wanted something I could tow pretty much whatever I wanted, and still be able to have fun when a trailer isn't on the back of it!
